Looking for the best Valentine’s Day hairstyles for this year? Look no further than our list! These are all simple looks that anyone can pull off in time for that special date.
It’s simple, but it’s perfect. What more can you possibly want? If you’re in a hurry for your Valentine’s date and you still haven’t found the perfect hairstyle for you, this can do the trick. To make it more romantic, you can also curl the rest of your tresses too. A braid can also be a game-changer, though it’s not necessary.
A regular braid is already pretty enough, but make it a loose side braid and you’ve got a different allure altogether. This is also super easy to do, but it does pose a bit of a problem if you don’t already have bangs in the first place.
Alright, alright. We’ll admit that we’re a huge fan of flower crowns. There’s just something about them that’s so romantic. Especially when paired with wavy hair? Oh, we’re in love.
Say what you want, fishtail braids are sexy. They’re a bit harder to make than regular braids, but with enough practice, you could finish a simple look in less than 5 minutes. Add a flower to the side to make it an even more perfect look for Valentine’s Day!
Want something classy and timeless yet still easy to pull off? A twisted updo could be your best bet. Make it a bit loose if you want a more soft chic approach.
Romantic braided buns are, well, romantic. They certainly hold a different charm than regular buns. To add more romantic vibes–though you no longer need to–you can also pull off a couple of strands by the side of your face to make them frame your hair.

In this guide, we’ll detail the 3 steps you’ll need to go through in order to figure out the right hair dye for your latest color.
Determining your skin tone
The first step is determining your skin tone. We all have different skin tones, and it’s important to know yours first in order to find a hair dye color that will complement it.
Warm skin tone
In order to find out if you have a warm skin tone, answer the following questions:
Does your skin seem to have a yellow or golden undertone?
Are the veins inside your arms green?
Is your eye color black, brown, or a similar shade?
Do you have gold or brown specks in your eyes?
Is your hair color black, brown, red, or dark blonde?
Are you curiously resistant against sunburn?
Does gold jewelry look better on you than silver?
If you answered yes to most of these questions, then you probably have a warm skin tone.
Cool skin tone
In order to find out if you have a cool skin tone, answer the following questions:
Does your skin seem to have a pink or reddish undertone?
Are the veins inside your arms blue?
Is your eye color blue, green, gray, or a similar shade?
Do you have blue or green specks in your eyes?
Is your hair color light blonde, light brown, or other light colors?
Are you always getting burned by the sun?
Does silver jewelry look better on you than gold?
If you answered yes to most of these questions, then you probably have a cool skin tone.
Neutral skin tone
If your skin has no noticeable veins, or if the veins have no outstanding color, then you’re lucky to have a neutral skin tone. Those with a neutral skin tone can wear and choose virtually any color and any jewelry they want, as they look good in everything.
Choosing the right hair color
Once you’ve determined the correct skin tone, it’s time to choose the right hair dye that will suit you best.
Hair colors for warm skin tone
People with warm skin tones tend to look better in warm, earthy hues like brown, orange, and yellow. Gold jewelry always looks amazing in them, compared to silver jewelry.
The rule of thumb for warm skin tones is to choose a color that has these main colors as the base: brown, red, gold.
browns – dark brown, warm brown, chestnut brown, chocolate, mocha, golden brown, golden caramel
reds – auburn red, dark red, red-orange, copper
golds – warm gold, golden blonde, bronze
If you have light skin with warm undertones, some of your options are also red-based and gold-based lighter blondes like strawberry blonde and honey blonde. If you have olive skin, you can also choose richer brown shades like ebony brown, as well as mocha. Lastly, if you have dark skin, it’s best to go for darker browns like mahogany, maple, or toffee.
Remember, don’t choose colors that have blue or violet as the base or it will make your skin look ashy or washed out.
Hair colors for cool skin tone
People with cool skin tones tend to look better in equally cool hues like blue, red, or violet. Silvery jewelry looks so much better on them than gold jewelry due to their pink undertones.

The rule of thumb for cool skin tones is to pick out colors that have blue, violet, or purple as the base color. However, the range of suitable colors for cool skin tones is much wider than that of warm skin tones. Aside from red, dark golds, and dark browns, most colors are fair game for cool skin tones.
light browns – wheat blond, sand blond, walnut brown
If you have dark skin with cool tones, you can also make do with black and espresso.
Picking out the dye
Even the right colored dye isn’t the right hair dye if it’s not the right kind.
Other than the color, the other main thing that you have to consider when picking out the dye is how permanent you want it.
There are three main types of dye in this category: permanent, semi-permanent, and temporary.
Permanent dyes – these dyes stay on your hair until you cut off the colored parts. If you’re really sure of the color and you really want to go for it, permanent dyes are less of a hassle to maintain than semi-permanent dyes. If you want to go lighter, you can also just keep using lighter colored permanent dyes since they stack up. But of course, it still doesn’t beat bleach. You probably won’t go from black or brown to white with just multiple dye sessions.
Semi-permanent dyes – it doesn’t wash away as fast as temporary hair dyes, but they do fade with constant washing. But if you just want to change the tone of your hair, this is usually good enough.
Temporary dyes – As its name implies, this kind of dye does not stay forever. It usually washes out after just a month or two.

The quest for the perfect hair may be never-ending, but thanks to modern technology, we are now much closer to our goals through the help of hair accessories like wig or hair extensions.
“Should I wear a wig or hair extensions?” If you’re uncertain which one suits your situation better, read on!
Wig vs Hair Extensions
Wigs and hair extensions are both used to act as a replacement or an addition to natural hair.
Both can cover up problematic hair, make short hair longer, and hide damaged hair until you can the right treatment for it.
If you’re suffering from issues that cause hair loss, such as alopecia, for example, both wigs and hair extensions can help act as a temporary solution to the problem, like a band-aid to a wound, basically.
Despite that, there are still some key differences between wigs and hair extensions. We already discussed some of those in this article, so be sure to read that if you’re still confused.

That said, just knowing the differences between the two doesn’t answer the question of which one is more suitable for what scenario.
There are many different reasons why you should wear a wig instead of hair extensions, but one of the biggest reasons is that wigs cover a greater area than hair extensions.
If your problem is more of, “this part of my scalp isn’t growing any hair right now,” then a wig could be a more seamless way to hide your problem while you quietly treat your patches. That’s because if you use hair extensions to cover hair loss like that, it could still be easily revealed by accident. For example, if you forget that you have patches and end up moving the hair extensions when you tie your hair or something.
Another good rule of thumb is that if your problem has something to do with the state of your strands, you’re better off with a wig. Hair extensions don’t really cover up problematic strands. They can make your hair look more voluminous since it’s adding to the thickness after all, but it can’t completely hide your frizz.
Other than that, if you want to have a complete color change, wigs are a better choice for you. Again, your hair extensions won’t be able to fully cover your natural hair, so unless you want to see some discolored strands peeking out, you should probably just wear a wig.

If your problem merely involves your hair length, then it’s safe to say that hair extensions would suffice.
For instance, you have chin-length hair but would like to have long, flowy locks for your prom. You could wear a wig and it would be able to do the job just fine.
But you could also just use tape-in or clip-in hair extensions and that would do the trick, too. Of course, wigs made from human hair does look pretty natural, but nothing still beats the natural look of hair extensions made from human hair.
Another reason to use hair extensions over a wig is if you just want to make your hair thicker. Hair extensions can add thickness to your hair in an instant, thus making your hair look a lot more voluminous.
Hair extensions are also used if you want a minor color change, like highlights, for example. You could just take a lighter color set and attach that to your own natural hair to create a highlighted look.

Toning may not be as taxing to your strands than other harsher procedures like bleaching, but if you’re going to attempt it on your hair extensions, it’s best if you actually know what you’re doing.
In this article, we’ll show you an easy step-by-step guide to properly toning hair extensions, regardless of the type!
Pre-toning reminders:
Use only warm or lukewarm water for rinsing your hair extensions. Hot water can damage the extensions while cold water might be ineffective at rinsing out the dirt and grime.
Make sure that the purple shampoo you’re using contains no harmful chemicals, as well as paraben and sulfate, as these can be damaging for hair extensions.
Before attempting to do this treatment to all your hair extensions, do a patch test first. If the patch doesn’t come out the way you want it, then either try another purple shampoo or use another set of hair extensions.
Doing any kind of treatment on your hair extensions will void the warranty, so make sure that this is really something you want to do before doing it.
Step-by-step toning guide
Toning hair extensions is actually a lot similar to toning your own hair, except you have to exercise more caution since the former can be more fragile than your own strands.
1. Prepare your toning solution
The first thing you need to do is to prepare your toning solution. Don’t worry, it’s easy. All you have to do is to add a couple of drops of purple shampoo to a bowl, or even your own sink, filled with lukewarm water.
2. Add in the hair extensions
Get your hair extensions set and slowly add the pieces one by one into the solution. If you’re using clip-ins, you should be fine dipping the entire thing in. But if you’re using tape-ins, remember to keep the taped part dry, away from the water.
3. Massage the strands
Gently, very gently, massage the strands under the purple water. Make sure to only keep them in the water for not more than 20 seconds. Any more and they could turn purple. Unless you want that, you should probably avoid keeping them in for far too long. This is the secret to properly toning hair extensions.
4. Use hair conditioner
Once you’re done with that step, drain your sink (or empty out your bowl) and replace it with clean, lukewarm water. This time, use a good hair conditioner specifically for hair extensions and leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. We recommend using our own ZALA Smooth Talker Conditioner for best results.
5. Rinse and dry carefully
Finally, rinse out all the conditioner from your extensions. Dry carefully on a flat towel and you’re done! Of course, it’s also best if you come back later when it’s dry and brush through each piece to make sure that they look their best.
