The Twist

The shorter hairs around your neck can often be a tell tale sign when applying extensions. To ensure your extensions look one hundred percent natural and these shorter hairs don’t poke out, you can use a bobby pin to twist them up and pin them at the nape of your neck. This is a super easy trick that will make all the difference when blending your extensions!

Angles

This is another one of our favourite hair extension blending hacks! By parting and applying your hair extensions on an angle, you will allow for softer blending around your face. This creates a more natural look and is a create was to achieve layers with our cutting your extensions to blend!

Half Pieces

Cutting the tape pieces in half is another great way to blend your tapes. By creating these smaller pieces, you can add them more accurately around your face and the area near your ears that can be hard to apply to.

Styling

Curling your hair is one of the best ways to ensure your natural hair blends with your extensions. To further this blending try pinning your curls up with a bobby pin and letting them cool down completely. This will set the curl in place and keep your extensions blended all day (or night) long!

How to Apply Tape Hair Extensions – ZALA

Applying your brand new tape extensions can be daunting so we always recommend having them applied by an experienced hair dresser. For the best technique check out ZALA’s complete guide on how to apply tape hair extensions perfectly. Make sure to take note of all our special tricks for comfortable, seamless and long lasting tape hair extensions.

How to Apply Tape Hair Extensions

What you need:

40-80 pieces of ZALA tape hair extensions
ZALA loop brush
Tail comb
ZALA tangle tamer

How to:

Start with clean, dry hair ready for application
Section your hair by starting at the nap of the neck area. Be sure to allow enough hair to disguise the adhesive tabs if you were to wear your hair in an up-do style.
Using your tail comb, take a thin piece of hair that is slightly more narrow than the tape extension tab, leaving some adhesive exposed.
Remove the adhesive backing and start by applying to the underside of the section, with the adhesive facing upwards.
Take your second tape piece, align perfectly on top of the first, and press firmly together with your fingers to secure. This will essentially create a sandwich of hair.
Repeat this process creating rows throughout hair leaving a 1cm distance between each ‘sandwich’. Each section of hair should be about 1inch above the other.
Be careful not to apply the pieces too close to the root of the hair to allow for movement and ensure they sit comfortable without pulling or causing friction.
When applying pieces to the sides, avoid placing them too far forward in the hair to ensure the tapes are undetectable.
Once all the pieces are applied, cut and style to taste!
