How to Get Big Voluminous Curls

HAIR EXTENSIONS

The first step on how to get big voluminous curls is of course, hair extensions! Some of us gals aren’t blessed with thick tresses, so a set of extensions will do wonders for even the most limp hair! For added body, apply a super thick set of ZALA QUADWEFT clip ins. This set is quad wefted which means four times the thickness per piece and lashings of volume! These are the thickest 20 and 24 inch sets available on the market! With a little help from your ZALA’s, you’ll be well on your way to big, voluminous tresses.

STYLING

It’s time for styling! For big, bouncy curls, there’s no tool better than the ZALA Cosmo Wand with the 32mm attachment! This barrel creates absolutely amazing bouncy curls. Remember to always use heat protectant to prevent heat damage on your extensions & natural locks!

Taking two inch sections, wrap the hair around the wand and hold for 5-8 seconds. For the most flattering look, make sure you style the curl away from your face! The Cosmo Wand is designed with curl defining technology for super long lasting hold. However to add some extra hold so that the style lasts all night, pin the hair in place and let it cool in the curled position to set it in place.

Once all your hair has been curled and cooled, unpin and brush through carefully with your fingers. This will loosen the curl to create an ultra soft, glam tresses. Braids and hair rings are everything at the moment! If you’re loving the combo like we are at ZALA, this pull through braid is for you. Read on for a full tutorial on how to get this super stunning look. You’ll be surprised at how easily it is to achieve this elegant pull through braid!

PULL THROUGH BRAID TUTORIAL

1. For added length & fullness, apply your ZALA clip in hair extensions! We’re using a 24 inch QUADLUX Dark Chocolate #2 sets for super long mermaid locks which is absolutely perfect for this braided style!
2. Next, gather your hair into a pretty half up style & secure with an elastic. About an inch or two down, take another hair tie and secure in place. This will create the base for the first pull through.
3. Take another section of the same size underneath and secure in place with an elastic. You will be working with these two sections to create the look.
4. Next, split the upper section in half to create a gap and thread the underneath section through.  Take another elastic about an inch or two down and secure in place to create the section for your next loop.
5. To create the looped effect and add volume to the braid, use your fingers to pull & loosen each section as you work your way down the hair.
6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 until you’ve braided all your locks 🙂
7. To conceal the elastics, apply some cute metal hair rings over each hair band. We are obsessed with hair rings paired with braids at ZALA and think this really completes the look!
8. You can leave the look here and rock sleek, straight locks. However we’ve finished the style with curls using the ZALA Cosmo Wand for serious hair goals! We used the 25mm attachment to create super elegant, loose curls.

To achieve, section the top layer of your hair and tie back into a small ponytail like you would for a typical half up style. Repeat this step with the same amount of hair with a section underneath. The looped look is created using these two sections of hair and threading either through whilst securing each ‘loop’ with a hair tie. Repeat this down the hair & pull to loosen as you go.
