Vanessa Hudgens, Karlie Kloss and Zendaya are also sporting the look. It’s safe to say boxer braids are taking over! Read on for some serious hairspiration along with how to get the style.

Boxer Braids

Boxer braids are a super versatile style. Not only is the style perfect for working out, it suits both casual every day wear as well as formal looks! We are loving boxer braids at ZALA as they are super striking yet ultra easy to create. What more could you want?

Boxers braids also work on every length of hair, which means short hair girls can sport the look too! They’re also great for girls with a fringe! In short, boxer braids AKA cornrows are double dutch braids. These pigtail braids are super easy if you’re familiar with braiding! If you’re having a bad hair day, throw your hair in some cute boxer braids.

If you’re not confident with braiding, don’t fret! We’ll break it down for you. Part your hair in the middle and section your hair into two even sections. A tail comb may come in hand if you want a super neat parting. Start french braiding at the top front section of your hair, grabbing more hair and incorporating into the braid as your work your way down. It’s ideal to start with small sections and keep the braid tight to ensure all hair is secured. Repeat until you reach the ends of your hair and secure with a clear elastic. Repeat on the other side and spritz with hairspray to finish!

Although the curling wand is oh-so simple to use, did you know there are specific curling wand techniques? Yup, that’s right! These wrapping techniques can create a completely different curl using the same barrel. Read on for these must know curling wand techniques that will take your curls to the next level.

Curling Wand Techniques

 

Flat Wrap Technique

First off is the flat wrap technique. Also known as the ribbon curl! The flat wrap technique is where the hair is wrapped flat around the barrel with no twisting. To nail the technique, you’ll have to ensure you’re repositioning your hand whilst wrapping the hair around the wand. This is because the hair will naturally want to twist slightly with the motion of wrapping. The effect of the flat wrap technique gives a quite defined curl, much like a ribbon. When brushed out, it’s the perfect curl for thinner hair types to achieve maximum volume. This technique is ideal with the ZALA Cosmo Wand 9-18mm barrel.

Twisted Technique

The twist technique is the most common when using a curling wand. This is because the hair naturally twists when being wrapped around the barrel. There are a few variations of the twisted curling wand techniques. Tightly twisted sections will achieve a compact curl and are great for adding amongst larger curls to create texture.

Loose twisted sections are perfect for recreating natural curls. It’s also great to refine natural curls! In this case, be sure to twist in the direction of the natural curl pattern. By twisting the hair whilst wrapping around the barrel, you’ll create a pattern that isn’t exactly exact. Much like a natural curl. Combo Wrap Technique

Lastly, the combo wrap. This technique creates a gorgeous textured wave. Start by using your flat wrap technique. Once you get halfway down the hair, don’t change the position of your hair and wrap around as usual. By doing so, you’ll create a super boho look. Once brushed out, the result reveals beautiful tousled curls. We love this technique for long, thick hair types especially!
